Self-Isolation Advice For Students At Ravenscourt House

I am an international student; will I need to self-isolate on arrival to the University?

If you are travelling to the UK from one of the countries on the red list, you will need to quarantine in a managed hotel and take 2 COVID-19 tests. If you are not fully vaccinated on your arrival to the UK, you will need to self-isolate on your arrival for 10 days. If you are fully vaccinated on an approved UK vaccination programme, you must take a COVID-19 test on or before day 2.

Who do I need to speak to about self-isolation accommodation?

Any students arriving from countries that are required to self-isolate on arrival should contact the team on info@ravenscourthouse.com if possible at least 48 hours before arrival.

The Accommodation Team will send pre-arrival information to you, including where to arrive and what you will expect on arriving at the Ravenscourt House.

When I arrive to Ravenscourt House, where do I collect my key / who do I need to contact?

You can arrive at Ravenscourt House only during our opening hours, which are 9AM – 7PM, Monday to Friday and 9AM – 6PM on Saturdays. You will pick up your keys from the reception. Any arrivals outside the reception opening hours must be pre-arranged in advance (at least 5 days before arrival) as must we need to confirm that somebody can assist you with the check in.

Will I be provided bedding and kitchen equipment in my self-isolation accommodation?

Unfortunately no, so please make relevant arrangements before you arrive. You can order everything you may need online and deliver to us on site. The team will then make sure it is in your room waiting for you.

Please make sure you email us on info@ravenscourthouse.com on your arranged deliveries in advance, so we know what to expect and can make sure it is all ready for you.

Please do not send anything to the property earlier then 1 week before your planned check in date as we have limited storage available onsite.

Our recommendations for the essentials you may need include:

• Bedding (pillow, sheets, duvet and cover)
• Crockery and cutlery*

How will I be able to eat if I’m self-isolating?

If you have to self-isolate, you will have to order takeaway with delivery options, or arrange for grocery shopping to be delivered to the building. We highly recommend that students arrange a delivery order before arrival, as online grocery shopping can be quite busy.

Any grocery and food shopping is very simple and can be done in the UK from a range of supermarkets and other providers. Some of the most well known are listed below, but there are many others available online:

Sainsbury’s
Tesco
Asda
Ocado

For take away food:

Deliveroo
Uber Eats
Just Eat

Please be considerate during this time about the amount you are ordering online, and limit deliveries to essential items. To keep everyone safe and adhere to social distancing, we need to limit avoidable interactions including with delivery drivers.

If you are self-isolating you will not be able to visit reception and collect your food delivery. Please send a friend or flatmate who is not self-isolating to reception to collect any delivery for you or, alternatively, let the site team know by phone or email, and they will leave it outside your flat door. But please remember about our opening hours (which are 9AM – 7PM, Monday to Friday and 9AM – 6PM on Saturdays)!

Any takeaway items outside our reception opening hours will have to be collected by your friend who also lives at Ravenscourt House so try to make any food delivery arrangements are made when our team will be in the property and available to help you. At Ravenscourt House, this is usually 9am to 7pm Monday to Friday.

How will I be able to collect any of my parcel deliveries when I’m self-isolating?

If you are self-isolating you will not be able to visit the reception and collect your parcels.

The team will deliver parcels to your door and ensure you get these once a day. Usually the deliveries are scheduled between 4-6pm but please check with the team via email because the timings might vary slightly.

Again, we would really appreciate it if you could limit deliveries to essential items as we will be doing our best to limit avoidable interactions, including with delivery drivers.

What support can I access while in self-isolation accommodation?

We understand this is a worrying time for many of our residents and while we will do as much as we can to support you, your University will usually offer free support to all students experiencing distress arising from psychological, emotional, or mental health issues.

What happens after 10 days of self-isolation?

After the quarantine period is over, you will be able to move around the property freely and use the common area / laundry facility and private courtyard.

I still have a specific question on self-isolation accommodation that the FAQs haven’t answered, who can I speak to?

Please contact the Ravenscourt House team and we will do our best to answer your questions.
